Which Dropshot Bait Do You Choose?
Compact baits of about 5 to 10 centimeters are often used for bass. Larger softbaits can be interesting when you are fishing for large bass or zander. The best size, color and shape depend on the water, the prey fish present and the activity of the predatory fish.
In clear water, natural colors are often a good choice. In cloudy water or in low light, brighter colors and highly contrasting patterns can be more noticeable. Change shape and color regularly if bites are not forthcoming.
Dropshot Lure Rigging
The most commonly used rig is the nose hook, where the hook is only inserted through the front part of the softbait. This allows the bait to move very freely. Use a suitable one for this dropshot hook.
You can also mount the lure wacky, weedless or on an offset hook. A weedless installation is especially useful around aquatic plants, branches and other obstacles. Attach a suitable one at the bottom of the line dropshot lead. By changing the distance between the lead and the bait, you determine how high the softbaits is presented above the bottom.
