In fly fishing, the line provides the casting weight. The right fly fishing line determines how far you cast, how your fly lands and at what depth you fish.
Floating, sinking and intermediate fly lines
Floating lines are the most versatile choice for dry flies, nymphs and light streamers. Sinking and sink-tip lines help you fish deeper water or present streamers in current. Intermediate lines sink slowly and are useful when fish are feeding just below the surface.
Match the line to your rod
Choose the AFTMA or line weight that matches your fly rod. A balanced rod and line cast more smoothly and give better control. Weight Forward lines are practical for many anglers, while Double Taper and specialist lines suit more specific techniques.
