In shallower freshwater, light pilkers (under 40 grams) are also effective for predatory fish such as perch or zander.

• Choose the right weight: The deeper and more current, the heavier the pilker.

• Use a sturdy rod and braided line for optimal control.

• Vary your technique: let the pilker fall, twitch it up, and vary pauses to provoke strikes.
