Rod supports for every fishing style

Anyone who fishes statically knows how important a good rod support is. Holding a rod for hours is not feasible, especially with multiple rods at the same time. Rod supports provide comfort, stability, and quicker strikes when there is a bite. There is a suitable solution for every fishing technique.

Why use a rod support?

When fishing with a bottom rig or a float rig, you want your rod to lie stable. Holding a rod in your hand quickly causes movements that disturb your rig. By placing the rod on a support and possibly securing it with a back rest, you prevent it from being pulled out of the support. Especially carp anglers often use extra tools such as snag ears for maximum safety.

Types of rod supports and applications

There are various rod supports for different situations. Note: rod pods and bank sticks have their own category page. Here we focus on fishing supports, boat supports, and fixed rod supports.

Rod support for boat anglers

Do you fish from a boat? Then a boat support is indispensable. There are models that you mount firmly with screws, but also handy clamp supports for temporary attachment. Perfect if you rent a boat or do not want to damage your own boat. Ideal for trolling for pike, but also for static fishing for carp or coarse fish.

Fishing supports for static fishing

In static fishing, fishing supports are essential. They ensure that your rig lies stable and your bait stays in the right place. Supports come in various shapes, such as U-shapes or feeder supports. The latter are extra wide and open, allowing you to strike quickly. In combination with a bank stick or buzzer bar, these supports are easy to use and adjust to your preference.

Supports for the fixed rod

For the fixed rod, bosbaan supports are ideal. These consist of two pegs with half-open eyes, in which you safely place the rod. Bank sticks can also serve well. Rod pods are less suitable for this fishing because they do not provide the right support for the long fixed rod.

Choose the right rod support

When choosing, pay attention to the ground (soft or hard), the number of rods you use, and the desired flexibility. A support must be stable, easy to use, and tailored to your fishing style. Supports for bank sticks are often more compact and affordable, but rod pods offer more stability and space for bite alarms.
