Hard baits are durable lures made from hard plastic, wood or metal. They are designed for active predator fishing and imitate baitfish, frogs or other prey for pike, perch, zander, asp and trout.
Crankbaits, jerkbaits, swimbaits and topwater lures
Crankbaits dive and wobble during the retrieve. Jerkbaits move erratically with rod taps and pauses. Swimbaits imitate larger baitfish with a natural swimming action, while topwater lures create surface strikes in shallow water.
Choose by depth, action and water clarity
Use shallow-running hard baits over weed and in warm conditions. Sinking or deep-running models help reach deeper fish. Natural colours often work well in clear water, while bright colours and rattles can be better in coloured water.
