With Bite On shads, length does not tell the whole story about weight or profile. A slim baitfish imitation and a deep-bodied shad can be equally long but contain very different amounts of material and mass.
Three 14 cm shads, three weights
The ribbed Venom weighs 12 g in 140 mm. The fuller Chubby reaches 31 g at that length, and the deep-bodied Luky Roach weighs 38 g. Add the hook, jighead or other rig components to those figures. Compare total casting weight with your rod rather than relying solely on the 14 cm label.
A slim or bulky presentation
Anchovy and Herrin offer elongated baitfish profiles; Sig has a fish-shaped body tapering towards the paddle tail. Chubby and Luky Roach offer more bulk. Choose the silhouette first, then size and colour. Also check pack quantity: different sizes contain different numbers of softbaits, while the stated weight refers to one individual lure.
