Everything for Vertical Fishing
Vertical fishing is one of the most effective ways to catch zander. From a boat, a shad or other softbait is presented directly below the rod tip, just above the bottom. This precise presentation keeps the lure in the strike zone, especially when zander are passive and holding close to the bottom.
Vertical fishing rod
A short, sensitive vertical rod of about 1.80 to 2.10 metres provides maximum lure control. The responsive tip detects cautious bites, while the firm blank has enough power for a positive hook-set.

Reel or baitcaster
Both a spinning reel and a baitcaster are suitable. A spinning reel is often easier for beginners, while a baitcaster makes it simple to release line quickly and keep the lure at the correct distance above the bottom.
Shads & jig heads
Shads of roughly 8 to 15 cm are the most popular choice. Match the jig-head weight to the depth and current so that you maintain constant contact with the bottom.

Fishfinder
A fishfinder or depth sounder helps locate drop-offs, holes, baitfish shoals and individual predators so that the lure can be presented in exactly the right place.
