With CTEC rod supports, first choose between an individual butt rest and a complete support setup. A grip for the rod butt does not replace a bankstick or tripod; it must fit both your existing support and your rod handle.
Handle diameter and finish matter
The Butt Rest Gripper combines a hard exterior with a soft rubber interior and provides two grip diameters. The Rubber Butt Grip fits more tightly and, according to its description, is intended for slim handles such as shrink finishes rather than cork grips. Measure the section that actually sits in the rest. This helps avoid a loose fit or a handle you have to force into place.
A pair of bank supports or a tripod?
The Pole Rest Adjustable is a pair of bank supports adjustable from 51 to 87 cm. The Tri-pod has three adjustable aluminium legs and holders for four rods. Choose according to the ground and your preferred arrangement; rod capacity does not tell you how much space the handles and reels need alongside one another. Check that clearance when setting up.
