The right carp hook for every situation
A good carp hook is indispensable for a successful fishing session. Because carp are large, strong, and often cautious, your hook must not only be sharp and reliable but also tailored to your fishing technique, bait, and the conditions at the waterside. In our range, you will find dozens of models that help you safely land every carp.
Popular carp hook models and their advantages
Claw-like carp hooks are ideal when carp have a soft mouth. They stay firmly in place during the fight and are therefore perfect for situations where you need to apply a lot of pressure, such as at obstacle-rich spots.
Circle hooks provide maximum hold. They hook themselves well in the corner of the mouth and minimize the number of lost fish. A reliable choice under all conditions.
Curve shank hooks turn quickly and hook efficiently in the lower lip. Suitable for various bait presentations such as bottom baits, wafters, and pop-ups.
Longshank hooks penetrate very quickly, making them very suitable for short leader rigs. Ideal on pressured waters where carp are cautious.
Chod hooks are specially designed for the chod rig and work well with stiff leader material. Perfect for weed waters thanks to their strength and hook shape.
Bow hooks are true all-rounders. Looking for a reliable hook you can use in almost all situations? Then this is your go-to model.
What to consider when choosing a carp hook
When choosing the right hook, you look at several features. The hook bend determines how much flesh is grabbed. A large bend reduces the chance of tearing out, especially in warm temperatures or when you need to keep the fish away from obstacles.
The shank shape also plays a role. A curved shank turns faster with bottom baits and wafters. For pop-ups, a straight shank is often better. Also, pay attention to the eye position: an inward-turned eye increases the hooking chance with pop-ups.
The point can be straight or inward bent. Straight points hook faster but have slightly less hold. Inward bent points result in fewer bites but more security during the fight.
Barbs are prohibited on many waters. That is why our carp hooks are almost always equipped with micro barbs: small barbs that better protect the fish while still providing sufficient grip.
Hook sizes for carp fishing
The most used hook sizes are 4, 6, and 8. Larger sizes provide more strength and hold but are less easily sucked in. For obstacle-rich waters or large fish, it is better to choose a larger size. For more subtle fishing on shy carp, smaller sizes or thinner wire are more suitable.
