Longchuck Tapered Shock Leaders

These shock leaders were specially designed for long-range fishing and help achieve maximum distance without risking cracking off during the cast. They combine perfectly with Long Chuck main line. Three different Long Chuck Tapered Leader combinations are available to match the diameter of the main line. This produces a neat connection knot and prevents frap-ups during casting. Such frap-ups occur when two different line diameters are joined and the line's spiral from the reel through the butt guide changes suddenly during the cast. Every leader is 10m long and consists of 8m of 30lb/0.47mm breaking-strain line to absorb the force of the cast, with the additional diameter also providing greater abrasion resistance during the fight. The remaining 2m is tapered to create a neat connection to the thinner main line. Choose from diameters of 0.27mm (10lb), 0.30mm (12lb) and 0.33mm (15lb). The tapered leaders have the same properties as Long Chuck line: an ultra-low stretch percentage that puts more pressure into the rod during the cast, since heavy nylon normally stretches more and hinders casting; low water absorption; low weight for the breaking strain because the line is colourless and dye adds extra weight, allowing it to remain airborne for longer; and a high breaking-strain-to-diameter ratio that reduces resistance. Each spool contains five leaders.
