The pole rod – also called a fixed pole – is the start of the adventure for many anglers. And with good reason: this rod is simple to use, extremely effective, and suitable for young and old alike. Whether you are a beginner or participating in a competition, the fixed rod remains one of the most popular rod types.
What is a pole rod?
A fixed rod is a rod without a reel. The line (the rig) is attached directly to the tip, usually with a clip, tip eye, or elastic. Attached to this rig is a float, weight, and hook, with which you specifically fish for coarse fish such as roach, bream, or chub. You slide the rod over the water and fish directly under the tip – casting is not necessary.
Which fixed rod suits you?
Fixed rods are available in different lengths and designs:
For recreational fishing, a telescopic rod is sufficient. For more serious work and greater control, choose a carbon put-over rod.
For which fishing do you use a pole rod?
Usually, a fixed rod is used for coarse fishing. But with the right setup and strong elastic, you can also fish well for carp. Fixed rods are often used on ponds, canals, and still waters. Due to the direct contact with the fish, the fight is extra exciting.
