Braided Fishing Line

Braided fishing line: maximum control, strength and precision

Braided fishing lines are the choice for anglers who strive for maximum bite detection and optimal casting results. Thanks to their unique structure – multiple ultra-thin threads tightly braided together – these lines offer unprecedented pulling power with a minimal diameter. The result? Long casts, less visibility underwater, and direct control over every movement of your bait or fish.

Why choose braided line?

A braided line stretches almost not at all. This way you feel even the smallest tap or bite – essential for fishing techniques where precision and sensitivity matter, such as predator fishing or feeder fishing. Because braided lines are stronger than nylon, you can use a thinner diameter and experience less resistance from current or wind. Moreover, these lines are extremely durable and abrasion-resistant, especially from top brands like Berkley, Spiderwire and Sufix.

What is Dyneema fishing line?

Dyneema is a special type of braided line, made with PE fibers that are stronger than steel. Not all braided lines are true Dyneema lines – only brands with a license use these fibers, such as Berkley and Spiderwire. Dyneema is more abrasion-resistant, stronger at the same diameter, and therefore ideal for fishing in obstacle-rich waters.

Sinking or floating? Colored or camo?

Braided line is standard floating, but there are also sinking variants on the market – perfect for carp anglers who want to lay their line tight over the bottom. The color is also decisive. Brightly colored lines (red, yellow) are clearly visible above water, ideal for bite detection or night fishing. Dark shades (green, brown) offer camouflage underwater, which scares shy fish less.

Combining with leader

To absorb shocks when playing fish, you often combine a braided main line with a nylon or fluorocarbon leader. This prevents tearing out and offers extra protection against obstacles. This combination is especially popular in sea fishing.

Knot technique and maintenance

Braided lines require special knots, such as the Palomar or Albright knot, because standard knots come loose quickly. Don’t forget to wet the knot well and pull it tight. For spooling, you can optionally use a nylon backing to save costs and fully fill your spool.
