The best coarse fishing rods for every fishing style
Whether you are just starting out or have been enthusiastically fishing for bream, roach or tench for years: with the right coarse fishing rod you make the difference. Within coarse fishing there are roughly two main categories of rods: fixed rods and casting rods. Which rod you choose depends on your fishing style, the water and the distance at which you fish.
Coarse fishing with a fixed rod
The fixed rod is the classic within coarse fishing. You fish with it without a reel, directly under the tip with a rig and float. For beginners there are telescopic rods from 3 to 5 meters, but enthusiastic coarse fishermen often choose pole rods from 8 to 13 meters – ideal for precision on ponds and canals. Many models can be extended with top sets or cupping kits for targeted feeding. Fixed rods are perfect for static fishing for coarse fish, but carp can also be surprised with the right approach.
Coarse fishing with a casting rod
Prefer to fish actively or at greater distances? Then a casting rod with reel is the right choice. There are several variants:
Feeder rod
Made for fishing with a feeder cage. Ideal for bream, tench or large roach at a distance. The sensitive tips register even the smallest bite.
Method feeder rod
A shorter, parabolic rod for fishing with a method feeder. Perfect for heavy fish such as carp or large crucian carp, with hook bait such as pellets or mini boilies.
Pellet waggler rod
Specially for fishing with floats for heavier fish in shallow ponds. This rod combines a soft action with enough power to land even the strongest fish.
Match rod
Long, light rods (3.90 – 4.50 m) for fishing with sliding floats at a distance. Ideal for roach and bream on still water.
Bolognese rod
Telescopic rods from 5 to 8 meters, ideal for float fishing on flowing water such as rivers and canals.
Winkle picker
The lightest version of the feeder rod. Short (2.40 – 3 m) and sensitive, perfect for ponds or short distances with light feeder cages.
