NYLON: THE VERSATILE CHOICE
Nylon is known for its abrasion resistance, which makes it an excellent choice on waters with many sharp obstacles. The elasticity of nylon helps absorb blows during the drill, which is especially useful in battles with strong fish such as barbel. This type of line is also affordable and available in various diameters and colours. The downside, however, is its considerable stretch, which is less ideal for instant bite capture.
FLUOROCARBON: ALMOST INVISIBLE UNDERWATER
Fluorocarbon is notable for its translucent properties, making it virtually invisible underwater. This is a big advantage in clear waters where barbel can be shy. Moreover, fluorocarbon sinks quickly to the bottom due to its weight, which makes for a tight line and less conspicuousness. A disadvantage is that fluorocarbon is a bit more difficult to cast than nylon due to its weight.
BRAIDED LINE: DIRECT BITE REGISTRATION
Braided line offers no stretch, so you feel every bite immediately. This is especially useful in situations where quick hook setting is required. The line also has a high tensile strength, allowing you to fish with thinner diameters, creating less resistance in flowing water. A disadvantage of braided line is that it is more visible and less abrasion-resistant than the other options.
