PROTECTION ON THE UNHOOKING MAT
Besides a soft unhooking mat, which protects against injury, it is advisable to choose a model with raised edges and a damp cloth or cover to cover the fish. This keeps the fish calm and prevents unnecessary movements. Get everything ready before you start fishing so that when you catch, you have everything immediately to hand.
SAFE RELEASE
After weighing, it is time to release the barbel safely. You do this by letting the fish recover quietly in the water, in the landing net or by hand, depending on the circumstances.
