Ashima Adjustable Ronny rig 440 Wide Gape are different from most ready-made Ronny rigs. Ashima has modified the swivel to allow it to move freely in the hook eye. Ashima made a conscious decision during production not to completely shrink tube the rig. We let the hook move freely and by adjusting the hookbead you can decide in which position you want to position the hook. When you slide the hookbead far over the bend of the hook, the ronny rig is upright. When you lower it to the hook handle, the hook position changes up to 45 deg. This makes the presentation of the rig very aggressive. The ronny swivels have a tensile strength of 25 lbs and of course our 440 wide gape hooks are mounted on these ronny rigs. These rigs are available in hook sizes 4, 6 and 8.

All Ashima hooks are manufactured in Japan in a small specialised production facility. Ashima has developed a production protocol to harden all hooks in exactly the same way. If a hook is too hard it breaks but if it is too soft the hook bends. So it is of utmost importance to balance these two factors along with the shape and thickness of the hook. All Ashima hooks are chemically treated so that the surface becomes extremely smooth and matt-black with lower friction resistance than PTFE. In addition, this treatment makes the surface highly abrasion-resistant and more durable than other coatings. Ashima hooks are not only very sharp when new but remain so during use.
